About the program

The Darebin Energy Upgrades Program can help you to electrify and improve the efficiency of your home or business to increase comfort, reduce energy bills and invest in a cleaner, safer future.

We know researching energy upgrades can be confusing and time consuming. So, we’ve partnered with not-for-profit energy experts Yarra Energy Foundation to take the hard work out of creating an efficient electric home or business by connecting you to quality products, at a competitive price, and with a reliable installer. 

Our program is open to all Darebin residents and business owners.

Program participants can access free, personalised energy advice and great deals on quality products, installed by vetted installers, All Electric Homes (for solar and electrification) and Enviroflex (for insulation).

Rebates

Through the Darebin Energy Upgrades program, our suppliers will assist you to access all applicable federal and state rebates for your upgrades.

In addition, Darebin City Council are providing additional rebates to eligible residents who have products installed through the Energy Upgrades program.

Eligible households can apply for council rebates of $150 to $3,500 for insulation, draught proofing, split systems, solar PV systems, and hot water heat pumps.

A one-off gas disconnection payment of $220 is available to households disconnecting their last household appliance from the gas network. Available to the first 30 eligible applicants.

To be eligible for the Darebin Council rebate, you must meet one of the following criteria:

  • A valid concession card (Health Care Card or a Pensioner Concession Card, Federal Concession Card, or Veterans’ Affairs Gold Card)
  • A combined household income of $120,000* or less

Note: eligible residents are only able to access Darebin Council rebates once through the program.

*If you are living in a household with three or more adult income earners, e.g. renters in a share house, you may still be eligible for the Darebin Council rebate. Total household income must be no more than the average of $60,000 per adult income earner, capped at $300,000 income per household.
