How it works

How it works

Making your home or business more energy efficient is easier than you think. We’ve broken down the process into simple steps, so you know what to expect from getting free energy advice and receiving obligation-free quotes, through to professional installation.

1. Register for quotes or advice

Register here or call Yarra Energy Foundation on (03) 7037 6040 for free advice or help with registration.

2. Hear from our installers

Once you register, our vetted installers will contact you within three business days – Enviroflex for insulation and draught proofing, and All Electric Homes for all other upgrades. During the call, they’ll discuss your current situation, needs and budget. They may also ask for photos and a copy of recent energy bills.

3. Get an indicative quote

Following the initial phone call, the installer will send you an indicative quote for the energy upgrades you’re interested in. This quote will include estimated savings, emissions reductions, and the expected payback period – including all relevant rebates you are eligible for.

Note: Indicative quotes are not available for insulation. A site visit is required before any insulation quotes can be provided.

4. Schedule a site visit

For insulation, a site visit will be booked during the initial call. For other upgrades, you can request a visit after reviewing your indicative quote. During the visit, the installer will assess your switchboard, cabling, and any additional requirements.

5. Receive your firm quote

After the site visit, our installers will provide a free, no-obligation quote, valid for 30 days. This quote will include a detailed breakdown of all inclusions and any applicable government rebates. The installers can assist you with the rebate process.

Please note, these rebates are not guaranteed, and approval may be required.

6. Get professional installation

Our vetted installers carry out the work in line with industry standards and certifications, giving you peace of mind that your upgrades are safe and reliable.

Darebin Council rebates

Rebates from Darebin Council are available to eligible residents who have products installed through the Energy Upgrades program. Click here to view the eligibility criteria.

Eligible residents may choose more than one type of home energy upgrade and receive the applicable rebates for each upgrade type. For example, if they would like one split system ($700 rebate), one heat pump hot water system ($150 rebate) and one bundle of draught proofing works ($300 rebate), the total value of their rebates would be $1,150.

Additional support for residents with health conditions

Do you have an eligible medical condition that is made worse by living in a home that is too hot or cold? If so, you may be able to receive additional support and subsidies through the Brotherhood of St Laurence (BSL) Climate Safe Homes program. Please visit the program website, phone (03) 9112 5398 or email climatesafehomes@bsl.org.au for further information.
